Osmodyn MiniKit Reverse Osmosis Unit® - Hybrid direct flow & stand-alone use
Pure drinking water: network mode or stand-alone
The Osmodyn® MiniKit Revverse Osmosis Unit is a hybrid solution that combines the performance of a direct-flow osmosis unit with the mobility of a stand-alone system. It adapts to your cold water tap to produce reverse osmosis water, and can also operate in stand-alone mode via suction (jerrycan, tank, reserve).
Reverse osmosis: filtration finesse
The reverse osmosis membrane retains molecules larger than 0.0001 microns, including :
- bacteria
- viruses
- microplastics
- PFAS
- nitrates
- heavy metals
- drug residues
A flexible, powerful solution
MiniKit is more than just an under-sink filter:
- High-precision filtration in direct flow, without reserve
- Network mode: filtered drinking water delivered directly to your tap
- Compatible with low pressures thanks to built-in booster pump
- Stand-alone mode: suction from a jerrycan or tank
- Electrical connection
- Optimized discharge ratio (see dedicated section)
This duality makes it an ideal solution for autonomous, off-grid habitats, Tiny Houses, isolated environments, mobile homes, or places where the continuity of drinking water is critical.
Frequently asked questions
Can MiniKit be used without electricity?
Yes, if the MiniKit is connected to the mains, it can operate even in the event of a power failure. Mains pressure (recommended minimum 3.5 bar) or the pressure generated by the suction system is sufficient for operation.
Can I produce drinking water from a jerrycan?
Yes, in stand-alone mode, the MiniKit can draw water from :
- a jerrycan
- a cistern
- a fresh water supply
- a pre-filled container
The water is then filtered by reverse osmosis to become drinkable.
Is there a lot of water discharge?
The MiniKit works with a ratio close to 1:1 (1 liter purified ≈ 1 liter rejected). The waste water can be reused for :
- watering
- washing
- sanitation
- secondary storage
Simplified installation & maintenance
No programmed obsolescence: our spare parts are always available.
Network installation
- Connection to existing cold water supply
- No special tap required
- Complete kit included (manifold + drain)
Stand-alone installation
- Connect the inlet to a jerrycan or tank via suction
- Open the valve and let the osmosis water flow straight out
Accessories supplied
- 3 tubes 1.50 m (1 x white inlet Ø 3/8, 1 x purified water Ø 3/8, 1 x drain Ø 1/4)
- 1 adapter 3/8 → 1/4
- Double 3/8 branch manifold: osmosis feed + purified water service
- Shielded transformer AC/DC 36V (input 100-240V / 50-60 Hz, output 36V 2.0A)
- EMC shielding: protection against electromagnetic interference (EMC)
- Power supply connection
How long do the filters last?
The frequency depends on the volume filtered and the quality of the incoming water.
- Carbon/sediment/plant mineralization pre-filters: change according to water quality (often 6-12 months).
- Membrane: every 1-2 years, depending on use
- Double vortex maintenance-free
Why MiniKit is different
Unlike standard filters or fixed osmosis systems:
- No storage tank: fresh water on demand
- No superfluous electronics
- Self-suction compatible
- Triple filtration + reverse osmosis + double vortex
- Reduction of persistent pollutants
- Waste recovery options
Do I need a special tap?
No. It can be connected to the existing system or to a dedicated tap, depending on configuration.
What's the difference between a hybrid RO unit and a conventional RO system ?
A conventional RO system works only when connected to the water network. The MiniKit hybrid RO operates :
- in network mode (connected to the cold water supply)
- or in stand-alone mode, by drawing water from a jerrycan or tank.
It combines direct flow and autonomy.
Getting started
Mains connection (manifold to tap)
If you're connecting the double manifold to a cold/hot water mixer tap, select cold water only. After removing your spray-breaker, screw the bypass manifold onto your faucet.
- Connect the osmosis water inlet to the upper part of the manifold.
- Connect the filtered water outlet to the lower part of the manifold.
- Tip: soften the ends of the white tubes in hot water to bring them to a stop, then tighten the nut.
- Turn on the cold water and let the water circulate in the osmosis unit for 1 minute, then close the drain valve (blue valve on the blue drain tube).
Water suction (jerrycan)
- Dip the white inlet tube into the jerrycan (maintain a sufficient volume of water to avoid air entrapment).
- Plug the upper part of the manifold with the adapter fitted with the plug; the lower part serves as the osmosis water service.
- Let the water circulate in the osmosis unit for 1 minute, then close the drain valve (blue valve on the blue drain tube).
In these 2 cases, the blue discharge tube (concentrated water) must be redirected either into the sink siphon, or into a reservoir for watering or other uses.
Compliance
- Food hygiene compliant technologies NSF-FDA - CE - ISO 901 - ISO 14001
- Swiss Made
- European Certificate of Conformity CE
- Compliance with Swiss directive SVGW W 12
- European conformity NF EN 60335-2-75 and EN 60335-1
Warning
Filters, reverse osmosis membranes and organic mineralization cartridges are consumables with a limited service life. Their service life depends on the quality of the incoming water (turbidity, chlorine content, excess components, etc.).
- Do not connect to hot water (T<40°C)
- Ambient temperature between 4°C and 38°C
- Do not expose to direct sunlight
- Keep frost-free
If the water to be treated is of unknown origin and does not come from the public network, a physico-chemical and bacteriological analysis will enable us to adapt the treatment (salinity > 2000 ppm, iron, manganese, turbidity > 3 NTUs...).
Given the absence of any control over the conditions of use of the filters (consumables), we decline all responsibility for any results or damage incurred. It is the user's responsibility to determine whether the product is suitable for his application.
