Water hardness or lime content varies from region to region:
Water hardness range: 1 French degree corresponds to 10 mg/l CaCO3 (calcium and magnesium salts).
-
Low hardness: 0°f < TH15°f (softening not essential)
- Medium hardness: 15°f < TH 25°f (softening desirable)
- High hardness: 25°f < TH 35°f (softening recommended)
- High hardness: TH > 35°f (softening essential)
- Add 1 drop of reagent, shake and observe water coloring:
If the water turns blue, the concentration is < 1 TH°.
If the water turns pink, the concentration is 2 TH°.
Add the reagent drop by drop until the color is red
FROM PINK COLORING onwards, each drop added corresponds to 1 Th
(equivalent to 1 HF°= 10 ppm CaCo3) to determine TH concentration and return to blue
(e.g.: 40 drops for a change from pink to blue indicates that the Th is 40).
It's important to keep your test away from light, heat or cold. Store at room temperature.
